Dear Colleagues,

I'd be very grateful if you can provide me with information on otter (Lutra lutra) breeding - sites, instances, and/or activity.

As part of the LIFE UK Rivers project, I am investigating the physical and ecological requirements that otters have for breeding sites so that we can work towards site identification and protection, and management proposals for the enhancement of rivers for breeding otters.

A first step is to collate all available information (not only from research, but also from your personal experience; sightings records; and surveys), on all aspects of otter breeding. Any information on otter breeding in your area (including time of year; type of habitat; food availability etc.), will be very valuable.
